Today was our last CEC sewing group before the holidays and we had fun making sandcastle flags ready for our summer holidays. We thought you might like to make some, so here is how you do it.
What you need:
Fabric scraps (cotton is best)
Pins
Scissors
Paper Pattern for the flag shapes
Iron (just in case your fabric is wrinkly)
sewing machine
BBQ sticks

Sewsanna made us some simple shapes as patterns which we pinned to the edge of some double folded fabric. We cut these out very carefully using some pink-in shears and normal scissors. The folded edge made the channel for the stick.

We stitched about 0.5cm seam the whole way round our folded flag. Remember to leave one open end for the stick. We made sure we left the needle in on the corners and turned the fabric so that we could get a neat seam all the way round.

Then we waved our flags and thought of lovely summer holidays and sandcastles
