This lovely bunting made at my beginners class. It use a nifty technique using squares of folded fabric to making it simple to cut out sqares instead of fiddly triangles and the edges of your flags are neat and easier to press giving you crisp edges. We added some appliqued hearts but you could easily change things with letters, colours etc to get the desired effect. First collect all your bits together see the list below. Enjoy your bunting making! photos and simple instructions below for great results. Leave your comments. Love Sewsanna x

Collect together. Some coloured fabric or plains (in our case we just used calico)
Cut out 15cm x 15cm squares (we made around 2.5m of bunting which was 14 flags in total.)
Now is the time to appliqué on any design you desire (remember if you are wanting to put on lettering with bonda web it will need to be done in reverse so your letters are not back to front) I will try to do a separate blog on how to use bonda web to get perfect appliqué.

Fold your square in half and make a small 5cm seam along one edge

Trim the bottom to reduce the bulk at the point of your triangle flag when you turn it the right way round.

Run your thumb nail along the seam to press it oout a little before you turn it inside out

Turn the right way round and push out the end using a chop stick press well with the seam running down the middle of the flag.

Ta dah easy! no edges on each side to worry about!!

Press 3cm wide bias binding in half and sandwich each flag between the the binding pin into place and top stitch along the edge of the binding to secure.

Try to get your top stitching right on the edge of the binding

All done, enjoy your fabulous bunting, I think I will make some bbq bunting for the garden with the summer season now approaching. Makes a lovely present, uses up your scrap fabric, no naughty edges to worry about fab, love it ! love Sewsanna
