Last Easter I made these little egg cosies for my nieces and nephews for easter they made a great present with a chocolate egg inside. Perfect for using up odd bits and pieces and each one takes on its own character. Heres how to make one or if your not feeling confident on the machine a hand stitched version with felt for little stitchers. I would love to see any you have made why not send me a photo below or post one to my facebook page. Don't forget to comment like and share my blog post. Happy Sewing....

Cut out 4 of each in fabric or two of each if you are sewing them by hand in felt. I mademy ears with two different colours to add interest. I used calico and a cotton print for the ears and felt for the lining to give it some insulation.
Mark with a water erasable marker a simple design for a face and stitch by hand.

Stitich together the ears with right sides together really carefully making a seam of 0.5cm or using the edge of your sewing machine foot as a guide. Remember to leave the needle in and very carefully lift and replace the pressor foot as you go around the curve on the top of the ear to make a nice smooth curve. Snip down (without cutting your stitching line!) and turn inside out give them a little press.

Now position the ears, pointing them inward on your curved front piece with the right sides facing and stitch together using the 0.5cm or machine foot as a guide again. Slow down and be careful with the curve. Do the same with the lining fabric minus the ears!

Ears inside the seam

Now make some snips to give a better curve these should be triangles on an outside curve (snips like a cake liner on an inside curve)

Turn the outside piece the right way and press your bunny face.

Place inside the lining fabric with the right sides together and line up the side seams so they match.

Stitch the whole way round the base of your egg cosy go slowly as this is a small area to work with and may be fiddly use the machine foot as a guide again. Make sure you leave a GAP for turning of around 4cm.

Trim and turn your work through the gap you left at the bottom of the cosy.

Press and hand stitch closed.

Your all finished enjoy your bunny cosy and have a happy easter.

If your a little stitcher. You could make this by hand as well using just felt.
