Sometimes my husband has a shirt that he just loves and would like to keep wearing but the back of the collar gets and worn and starts to fray. This is a real favourite of Marks bought a while ago its classic, still has some wear and to make Mark smile (he is easily pleased!) I thought I would turn the collar. Its a nifty thrifty tip that I learnt from my mum. Saves the planet, saves money and heres how you do it....

Poor old shirt... bit worn on the edges. You need to take off the collar unpick the stitching line just below the frayed edge.

Unpick the collar from the collar stand

Unpick along the bottom of the collar where it joins the collar stand. Use a quick unpick this will make it easier.

This is on the inside.

Turn the collar around and then sandwich the collar back into position and pin through all the layers, make sure it is flat on both sides and you may want to tack this in place to make sure you get all the layers incased.

This is the underside of the collar pinned ready to sew.

Sew along the inside of the collar. Try to follow the old stitching line as much as you can and make sure you use matching thread and start and stop with a small reverse stitch to hold it firm.Trim all your ends.

Neat Job, one shirt restored saved from the rag bag, one little thrifty moment, one happy slightly less frayed husband! Happy stitching Sewsanna x
